Dan Roupe

Founder & Master Guide

Dan Roupe is a dedicated angler with a deep connection to the wilderness of Southeast Alaska. Originally from North Idaho, he developed his love for fishing while exploring rivers with his father. Having spent 43 years in the region, and 30 plus years guiding in the rivers and streams of southeast Alaska, Dan's knowledge and experience is truly unmatched. There are very few locals who visit many of the rivers and streams that Dan has been fishing for decades. His intimate knowledge of fly fishing in these remote areas is irreplaceable.

When asked about his motivations for being in the business, Dan emphasizes his enjoyment in witnessing people catch fish. This passion for sharing the joy of angling with others has been a driving force throughout his career.

Gregg Cook

Owner & Guide

Gregg Cook's journey began amidst the rugged Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina, where he was born into a family deeply rooted in the sawmill industry. Surrounded by seasoned woodsmen and skilled outdoorsman from a young age, Gregg acquired a unique set of skills and experiences ideally suited for being in the lodge business. With his love of people stemming from his deep faith that man is made in the image of God; Gregg’s passion for fly fishing was kindled through trips to Wyoming and Alaska as a kid. This flame never died, and in 2008 Gregg moved his wife and four Kids to Prince of Whales Island and began operating as a lodge owner and outfitter.

Dedicating countless days to refining his expertise while passing on his knowledge to his now-adult children, Greggs knowledge of Southeast only comes through experience. As the proprietor of Southeast Alaska Fly Fishing, Gregg brings to the table a distinctive blend of gifts and love for people, that create a passion for curating the most exceptional and unconventional experiences for his clients that they won't find anywhere else.

With a passion for the outdoors ingrained in his soul, Devin has found his calling in the guide and lodge business, boasting 4 seasons of guiding experience and 7 years of working in various lodges throughout the region. Devin is a talented fly fisherman.

When asked about his motivations for guiding, Devin's response is resolute: "There's nothing else I'd rather do." His love for the wilderness and the joy of guiding others in their angling pursuits fuel his passion for the profession.

Luther Jenson

Guide & Lodge Manager

Born in Minnesota, Luther moved to Prince of Wales Island with his family in 2007. He instantly realized that he had “arrived”, and had no intentions of calling anywhere else home. He’s intimately aware of the blessing it was to grow up in such a place,  with so much opportunity in the outdoors, “without all the people”. He took his first job in 2011 at Adventure Alaska Southeast. He paid his way through a civil engineering degree, guiding and running charters for the lodge, and stayed right at home after graduation to take over lodge operations entirely. He’s been operating this lodge since 2020, and is having a ball doing it.
